Instructions worked pretty well for me:

modprobe ipt_LOG
iptables-legacy -t raw -A OUTPUT -j TRACE
ping -c 2 8.8.8.8
dmesg

Sysctl net.netfilter.nf_log.2 is automatically set to "nf_log_ipv4".
