------- Additional Comments From pmccurdy@net-itech.com 2003-12-23 00:18 -------
We have noticed the same problem with our servers, running kernel versions
2.4.19 and 2.4.21 on systems with 3 Realtek 8139 100Mbit network cards. The
symptoms are that when the system is used as a PPTP server for windows clients
(98, ME, 2000, XP, 5-15 at a time), the server will occasionally hang. I have
managed to reproduce this a few times, with 2 Win98 and 2 Win2000 machines
PPTP'ed into the server (I have two workstations, each running 98 and 2000 in
VMWare sessions). When it happens, the system is completely locked; the magic
sysrq key doesn't work, and there are no messages on the console log.

I'm currently trying to reproduce this using a kernel with some debugging
options turned on, but after that I'm running out of debugging ideas. If anyone
else has debugging suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
