I have spent weeks reading about netfilter and building a firewall and
today I got one running. But it is dropping packets and I would be very
surprised if it is not full of holes.
I could post it here and ask for help, but it might be better if I could
get hold of a pre-built script that will do most of what I need so that I
would have something solid to work on. Something fairly straight forward
and not too ambitious.
My network is basically a Linux box with a fixed IP connected via modem to
the 'Net, with behind it a small collection of boxes with public IPs. I
have three bits of host address allocated to me so I have six useable
addresses.
There is a bit more to it than that but I think I can handle that myself.
I would also like a script for the same setup except that the LAN uses
private IPs. They only expect squid and mail so forwarding would be
simpler but it will make some use of NAT.
Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.
