Examples for ICMP rate limiting?

Hi,

literature suggests that internet sites use ICMP rate limiting to
avoid ICMP floods. I am reluctant to experiment here.

Has anybody experience with ICMP rate limiting using netfilter, and
cares to share her iptables rules?
