The problem you have is not related to netfilter. Whatever
distrubtion you are using should have information to help you setup
your intranet.
Read the following HOWTO's:
NET-3-HOWTO, NET3-4-HOWTO. They might be on your system already. If
not use www.google.com to locate them.
If you can't ping your local network, netfilter won't help fix that.
