You have to say 'Yes' to all the different options in the Netfilter submenu!

Depending on what you want to do, I recommend at least:

CONFIG_IP_NF_IPTABLES
CONFIG_IP_NF_FILTER
CONFIG_IP_NF_NAT

you have to compile all the different netfilter modules by enabling them in
the kernel configuration (module names are: ip_tables.o, iptable_nat.o, ...)
