mangle table

Hello !

FYI: I'm working on a track about netfilter for the LinuxTag 2000
in Germany, so I may have some questions and would be glad about
any suggestions/comments.

My question for now is: what is the "mangle" table good for ?
"nat" and "filter" are clear for me, but "mangle" says me
nothing.
