Arp problem

I get an error from arp

root@insanity ~ 
#  arp -i eth0 192.168.50.6 00:E0:29:6A:4E:E1 pub
192.168.50.6 (192.168.50.6) -- no entry

Pretty strange.  I couldn't find anything in man or the HOWTO's to tell
me what I'm missing.

I know you said you tried it, but did you use the format:
arp -i eth0 -s virtual_ip_addr eth0_hw_addr pub

I tried it on a box here and it will respond to the ARP request.
