How netfilter is implemented inside the Kernel

Hi, Folks

I am newbie in netfilter. Can you kindly give me some information or
URLs about how netfilter is implemented inside the kernel? I would like
to know in detail how packets traverse from routing process to INPUT
chain & FORWARD chain, and etc. What are the data structures and
routines used by netfilter inside the kernel.

Another question is : Can I use netfilter and Linux Traffic control
(CBQ, TBF, rsvp filter. and so on) simultaeously in the same kernel?
Do they conflict with each other? (they may use the same variables in
the kernel).
