I got iptables 1.0.0 and Kernel 2.3.99pre5

i compiled both and after loading the kernel-modules "iptables -L"
works.
But if i try to do something else like "iptables -P input DROP" i always
get :

"module is wrong version"

I tried an older version of iptables (both 1.0.0 alpha and beta) an i
tried it with kernel 2.3.99pre3
... always the same ! :-(

My system is a RedHat 6.2 and was "freshly" set up for every
installation ...
I get crazy .. what am i doing wrong ??

Can anyone help ?
