unconfirmed connections not expiring?

I noticed I have alot of UNCONFIRMED connections that aren't being expired.
Is this a old bug that was fixed? I'm still running a fairly old kernel
(2.4.3). If I watch /proc/slabinfo, the ip_conntrack entry keeps growing.

Thanks,
Brian
