It actually kind of does. Take a look in the ip subdirectory and note that
most of the "major" commands are independant. In fact with a little
fiddling it is possible to get ip to compile with just one or two major
modules (ala the old iptunnel and ipmroute commands) so I don't see why
not have added extensions. You may want to see what Alexey thinks about
that. I think it would be a great extension.
